Fantastical Foliage

I’ve always loved trees.  They share many similarities to people.  They have a character all their own.   When they are young and virile they show it.   Like some people, as they age, they bear the scars of life in ways that make them even more beautiful.  As the seasons change, their character and beauty changes.  I am grateful for all that trees contribute to life on earth.

I began to explore painting arboreal works in 2016 on large canvasses (6 foot by 6 foot) and panoramic triptychs (up to 3 feet by 9 feet) on aluminum to increase the impact.   I also wanted this series and this exhibit to express the beauty and diversity of trees as evidently as within nature, so I decided to paint trees in every imaginable style including experimental, abstracted styles.   There are so many styles yet to be explored….it is absolutely a work in progress.      You will find that there are also medium sized and smaller works in this series and almost all come from my imagination.
